In a large skillet, over medium-high heat, saute the onions, garlic, olive oil, and butter for about 3 minutes or so.
Add the Italian sausage to your skillet, sautéing it with the garlic and onions, until the sausage is crumbled into large chunks.
Sprinkle meat mixture with salt, pepper, italian seasoning, and basil
Reduce heat and VERY SLOWLY, add in the vodka to your skillet. Increase heat back to medium-high and simmer to reduce vodka for about 2-3 minutes.
Add in chicken broth and tomatoes. Bring sauce back to a bubble and reduce heat to simmer.
Stir heavy cream into sauce and simmer on low heat while pasta is cooking
In a large pot of boiling, salted water, cook your pasta to al dente. Drain pasta.
Toss pasta into your meat sauce and toss to coat pasta evenly
In a 9x13 baking dish, evenly spread your pasta-meat sauce mixture in pan.
Top pasta with parmesan cheese and then finish with layer of mozzarella cheese.
Bake in 350* oven for approx 20 minutes or until cheese is melted and slightly browned on top.
Remove from oven and garnish with fresh slivered basil leaves, if desired. Serve warm with a fresh green salad and warm crusty bread. Dinner is served....ENJOY!
