Over the years, I have perfected my recipe to a perfect blend of creamy, sausagey, peppery yumminess, if I do say so myself! haha  I love gravy that is loaded with savory sausage, a hint of heat from pepper, and the perfect blend of seasoning……and this recipe delivers! If you have a favorite homemade buttermilk biscuit recipe, by all means, this is those biscuits chance to shine with this gravy on top!  But, if you’re like me and like a short cut, some warm Pillsbury Grands or Hungry Jack Buttermilk biscuits will serve up just as well! Mmmm mmm good!

Below is my recipe for GRAMMY’S BISCUITS ‘n GRAVY!!  You’re in for a yummy treat, I promise! ENJOY!

GRAMMY'S BISCUITS 'N GRAVY

Made with love by Grammy
Servings 6

Ingredients

  • 1 tube breakfast sausage (I use Jimmie Dean regular)
  • 1 tube Pillsbury Grands Buttermilk Biscuits (or homemade, if you prefer)
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp Lowry's Seasoning Salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp coarsely ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat oven and bake biscuits according to directions on biscuits tube or your favorite homemade biscuits recipe .
  • While biscuits are baking, saute breakfast sausage in a large skillet on stovetop at medium-high heat until sausage is crumbled and browned.
  • When sausage is no longer pink, sprinkle flour evenly over cooked sausage in skillet until the sausage absorbs the flour.
  • Then carefully pour your milk, seasoning salt, and pepper into skillet. Mix completely with sausage and stir regularly as the sausage mixture starts to bubble.
  • Reduce heat and continue to cook and stir sausage gravy until thickened, about 10-15 minutes.
  • When biscuits are cooked, remove from oven.
  • Now, it's time for the best part! Open a biscuits in half onto your plate and scoop some of that delicious sausage gravy onto each half of your biscuit and dig in! ENJOY!
